Senior Engineer - Equipment Repair and Data Recovery

Our client is a class leader in the fields of component level repair of electronics and electromechanical devices, including computer equipment, and advanced data recovery services. With a successful history and an aggressive growth plan they are now seeking to recruit a highly experienced Senior Engineer for their laboratory.

  

This role stretches beyond standard fault isolation at board level to root cause identification and requires a highly skilled diagnostician with the ability to reverse engineer complex problems working from sound engineering principles.  The position will be based in Dublin, Ireland.

  

Key responsibilities include:

  

  • Reverse engineer faulty electronics and storage media to component level and root cause
  • Formulate appropriate corrective actions for the successful repair/reclamation of data
  • Utilise software and hardware tools to effect an efficient repair or recovery
  • Work with the team and our vendors to develop new tools and processes
  • Develop test equipment and new process methodologies
  • Generate reports, component lists, procedures, method instructions, sketches and drawings
  • Fabricate, solder and rework components to affect the repair solution
  • Update the tracking system to clearly outline the materials used and technical activity undertaken
  • Liaise with Customer services/Sales personnel to communicate clearly the issues to be resolved and solutions required for the client
  • Adhere strictly to all policies, procedures and practices  

  

The ideal candidate must:

  • Be a natural engineer with an innate curiosity in all things electronic
  • Be business savvy with a practical approach to problem-solving, demonstrating initiative and drive to see things through to conclusion while operating in a busy target-driven environment
  • Hold a degree in Electronic Engineering or Mechatronics
  • Have 5+ years experience in electronic debug/repair including at least 2-3 years experience with microprocessor embedded systems (Digital Electronics)
  • Have a deep knowledge of Power supply SMP and Analogue electronic circuitry design
  • Be able to demonstrate expertise in electronic circuit board debug and repair to component level
  • Be capable of soldering and reworking surface mount and BGA components
  • Possess an in depth knowledge of  Computer architecture and software tools and OS
  • Have data forensic and encryption technologies knowledge as it pertains to storage media
  • Have fluent Technical and Business English with an ability to communicate at an advanced level both orally and in writing
  • Be willing to travel to customer sites as and when required
  • Have a long term interest in leading a team 
  • Have legal permission to work in Ireland
